NHET-Sim Program

A free training program for clinicians and healthcare educators interested in simulation. Available until June 2014: http://www.nhet-sim.edu.au/

The National Health Education and Training in Simulation (NHET-Sim) Program: Workshops and e-learning modules available until the end of June 2014.

The NHET-Sim Program offers a free training opportunity for any health professional residing in Australia, who currently uses or intends to use healthcare simulation as an educational method with students or health professionals. NHET-Sim provides entry level learning experiences for individuals new to simulation-based education. For those with experience in simulation-based education, NHET-Sim provides an opportunity to reflect on existing and future simulation practice.

FLEXIBLE LEARNING OPTIONS:
Participants are able to choose two learning options Stream A (e-learning and face-to-face workshops) and Stream B (e-learning).

HOW LONG DOES THE NHET-SIM PROGRAM TAKE TO COMPLETE?
The e-learning component of the NHET-Sim program takes approximately 12 hours to complete. The workshop component takes approximately 2 days. Workshops are currently taking place in selected venues across Australia.

NHET-Sim modules cover:
• Educational principles underpinning simulation
• Use of mannequins and task trainers
• Scenario development
• Phases in the simulation cycle
• Simulated patient contribution to health professional education
• Use of technology in simulation
• Virtual environments
• Simulation learning environments
• Program management

*Three new modules will be launched in March 2014. These are debriefing in simulation, developing scenarios and teaching with task trainers.
